Hey, everybody. Welcome back to Stringman Guitars. We're in the underground lair. It's gotten a little cold, so I got this nice puffy shirt on. Anyhow, we've got a Charvel Pro model and it's got some issues. Before we get into that though, if you live in the greater Pittsburgh area and you need your axe sharpened, please look us up. Stringman Guitars on Facebook and stringmanguitarsmail.com Please like and subscribe. If you see, if you like what you see here, the Charvel Pro model, we got some problems with how it's strung there. First of all, it looks like somebody gooned the nut here. Nut is visibly high there. It's 22,000ths off the first fret, which is just inside the spec. But somebody went and took a file to these and really widened out these slots probably for 11s. And it's strung on the wrong side of the post. I guess it's a cool feature, but it's not tech happy. They got this weird angle for the jack in the back of the guitar, which I guess, I mean, at least while you're playing it, it's not in your way. Okay, so we get screws out of the back and we've got suction peg to help us get that off of there. And the first thing I see is the springs are put in there wrong. They should be evenly spaced because whenever you go to do a pull up on the bar, there's a chance this center spring that isn't doing much is going to fall right out. Let's fix the location of the springs. That's much better. Now all the strings are pulling in the same direction. All right. And while we don't have any. Don't have any tension on the knife edge. Raise that bridge just a hair and whatever's left over we'll leave to the individual saddles to fix. So, all right, we gotta hope that this nut is not in there the wrong way. Alrighty, boys and girls, we have our new nut in. And I always go in here and tighten. Don't crank, just tighten. Snug. Whatever word you want to use. All the tuner bushings and then we go in and tighten these things. String terese. We have our bridge locked level with the body and we have our new nut installed. And the nut is sitting at 18,000, which Charvel wants between 15 and 20. So we're at 18. And let's check our relief after doing all that. And that was an hour of sanding to get that nut right. 17th fret 7th fret. All the nut dust off of there, and that just squeaks under there. So our relief is where we want it. And our string height. I had a little bit of buzz in the low E, so we raised that just a hair. It's just above 4. We're just above 4. We're just Above 4 or 5. Just very same. Could actually come down on this one just a little bit. That's better. That's just about four. Just above four and right on four. Let's see if dropping that D gave us any buzz. And it is. Take your money, cut fingers. Now we just have to do the intonation lottery. That's bang on. Okay, Finally. So what have we done here? Replaced the nut polished frets, clean the fingerboard, set the first string height or first fret string height to 18 thou. 10 thou at relief at the seventh fret. Holding it 17th and capo at first. And we have to get our block out of the back. The idea of the block is to keep the bridge in a set place. You let off the springs, and the trim block rests against this block, which is Skyscraper guitars. If anybody's interested. I bought these myself. They were not given to me. So what you do then is you tighten your trim block to the point where it will release that block, I should say. You tighten your trim springs until it lets go of the block. There we go. Perfect. Okay. Still flat. Morning, everybody. We're back to finish off this charvel. And let's see here. 3, 5, 7. Just a hair less than 10. Go to the body joint. Just slides right underneath there. Perfect string height or perfect relief. Check our string height. I did have to make some adjustments overnight as things settled in. Okay, we're just. If I had something to break my 64ths a little smaller, we would be at probably 4 1/2, 64. 4 1/2 64s. 4, 4 1/2 64. 4 1/2 64. 4 and a half 64. And right at 4, 64. For the high E, we used a bunch of Big Ben's nut sauce on all the contact points again. And we whammied in the the. Make sure everything's, like, penetrated with oil. Stretch the strings, check the intonation, and everything is dead on. The last thing we have to do is pick up height. And these here are not hex keys. People keep on asking me on YouTube what hex key I'm using. They're not hex keys. They are brass and they're round, and they're made for. There's A the two on the outside. The two bigger ones are for bass end of bass and treble end of bass. Or the next two smaller ones, bass end of guitar and treble end of guitar. So hold down at the last fret and see, that's way too low. So that's going to come up. See, these are direct mount, so there is no adjustment to them. Well, it's better to have them further away from the pickup than or the string than too close to the string. Now, we forgot to do a tone test, so there's your neck pickup. I love the fast roll off on the volume or the loose volume. It's these two pickups. Now. Front coil and middle pickup. Now full humbucker. Nice. Oh, I'm sorry. That's full humbucker.
